A recent lawsuit filed by the Republican GOP is trying to sue President Obama, claiming that he's over-stepped his executive boundaries. It's not news that Republicans have been trying to get Obama out of the White House for six full years, however, they've also opted to block reform at every turn. First it was questions about his birth certificate, then it was Bailouts. Now it's possible (but far-fetched) impeachment based on several things that may or may not be unconstitutional. Click The Republican GOP has been accused of acting out of racism, being that Obama is half Kenyan, and half White. Obama recently signed an executive order that protected Federal Workers against anti-gay discrimination in the workplace, as well as just signing an executive order now that made it more difficult for institutions who violate labor laws to secure Federal Contracts. Absolutely ridiculous. A complete waste of time, money and effort. It would be more logical to bring this up after his term is finished, but the GOP won't do that. Being anti-Obama is their entire campaign; without Obama there to criticise, they're nothing. 'Representatives' indeed. There's plenty of people saying that it's simply an election scheme for 2016, which is when we vote in the next president. Obama recently mocked their efforts at a rally in Kansas City, Missouri yesterday I believe. His exact words were "Stop hatin' ", and this was immediately before he signed that executive order to make it harder for labor law violating businesses to secure Federal Contracts. |

I haven't seen anything recent about this, unfortunately. However, I do recall Obama being criticised in the past week for not taking executive action regarding the border crisis, iirc. A blatant admittance of; "Executive Action is fine, just as long as it falls in line with our desires." |

It's a waste of time and money, and they need to get some sense slapped into them just as hard as Freeza did.

They're waiting for more to gather on Obama, to be honest. Not to mention that Congress is about to go on their yearly 5 week vacation very soon. They simply don't have time to draft anything up before they go to their houses in the Bershires and the Hamptons (sarcasm). The main thing that they're waiting for is the immigration issue at the border, to see if Obama is going to sign an executive order that deals with it. The US since October of this past year has had over 54,000 illegal minors come to the borders in hopes of living here. The Border Guard has no more resources to deal with these illegal kids, and their funds are due to run out in late August or September. Obama's presidency now is more being viewed as a test of the limits of the president's executive power. Just for reference for Non-Americans, the process of power in the US is very simple. The government is made up of three branches, and no branch has more power over the other, even if they have different powers. Bills for Laws are voted on and drafted up in Congress, but don't actually become law until they are signed in by the president. The third branch is the Judiciary, who can deem laws as unconstitutional once they are signed in and can null the laws. In the US, Bills aren't supposed to be signed into law until they are deliberated and discussed via congress, then the president must approve them. However, Obama's actions lately are being seen as overstepping congress because he's signing executive orders, which are simply laws drafted up be his own administration; taking Congress out of the equation. The president on several issues IS allowed to do this, particularly if it pertains to laws within the government itself and what these orders enforce is 100% legal to enforce. However, Congress (being spiteful toward Obama since his election in 2008) is doing everything they can in order to block legislation; even though many of these laws will help American citizens and. Obama's simply getting tired of Congress blocking legislation within itself and bills never getting to him, therefore he's signing executive orders lately; which overstep the congressional proceedings. However, all of the executive orders that he's signed so far all pertain to the conduct of the government, and don't infringe upon the rights of regular citizens. However, as I said, there is a limit to what the president can do with this type of power. This lawsuit is essentially seeing what laws he's broken or if he's broken any at all by signing all these executive orders lately. Edited by Ketchup Revenge, Aug 11 2014, 02:43 PM.

Obama has no other choice anyways but to do what he does, he's being "controlled" by different political lobbies. So he's not entirely to blame, in my opinion. I'm not saying what he does right though. I had high expectations for him back when he got elected in 2008, but once it hit 2010, I just stopped caring, as he just gave out "empty" promises. |

To be fair, a lot of Obama's promises remain unfulfilled due to the GOP blocking the Democrats at every turn in an attempt to run their reputation through the mud. All that's done is act like a coup de grace to the credibility of the entire US political system. Nobody trusts politicians anymore because, as you said, they give out empty promises. Many people don't care why the promises weren't fulfilled, just about the fact that they weren't. I'm not saying the Democrats aren't to blame at all, but the GOP holds the most responsibility for this situation. |

@Snake: Just to add to your argument, a candidate's perspective also changes once they become president as well. The president knows things that the general public doesn't, and sometimes the general public may never know these things. Due to this new information, the presidents that get voted in often have to change their promises or policies based on this new information that the public may or may not know. It could... but of course it depends entirely on if they find what he's done is illegal or not. You can't sue someone if they haven't done anything illegal, and if you try to, you'll lose and just look like an idiot. Edited by Ketchup Revenge, Aug 12 2014, 12:47 PM.

I'm also not a Republican fan, but we also need to realize that the Democrats aren't that much better. I don't agree with a lot of Obama's policies, but at least he's actually doing something and not sitting on his a**, blocking legislation at every turn simply to spite the other guy, like 95% of the Republicans in Congress. The Republicans have done absolutely NOTHING in the past 6 years except point fingers. All of them need to be impeached. Period. Oh trust me, i'm not one of those democratic liberals who think republicans are 100% evil and inefficient and dems are 100% good and super efficient, but I will make my stance clear that I am a Democrat simply because I would rather be in the party that stands for progression and fair/civil treatment rather than a party that stands for regression and discrimination. Not to say that all repubs are for discrimination and all dems are for fair treatment necessarily, but the majority of said sides are for what I have mentioned. In the end, I believe we need a new party for the clear rights for everyone and legislation that is not simple pandering to religious groups and lobbyists. And the Tea Baggers are not it... Just for reference, as if what I just said isn't clear enough, I am on the side of people like Bill Maher, rather than Glenn Beck and Rush Limbaugh. |
